Why he started "Dark Illusion": "My past band, Death Asylum, did not work out after two years. Almost to a record deal, Josh moved to Haskell, Texas, so I thought we were all taking a break. I stayed in Honey Grove for about a month and a half with my now ex, and came back. Jason told me I was out, and they already had a side project, Slaughter of Innocence (now Ghore). I went my separate way. After a few weeks, Colin invited me to come to Haskell with Josh and him. We had this crazy idea to start up another band, (opposite of Slaughter of Innocence) with the name I had come up with when I had moved back to Gainesville. Josh moved back to Gainesville, and it was Colin and me tryin' to start this new band up (The original line-up being me on vocals, Josh on guitars, and Colin on drums). Colin moved back down with his brother Josh, and me being the only original member left, started scouting. Finding Bobby Ortiz, a 23 year old guitarist, we began working on some orginial shit. We got down songs like "Fuck You", "Heaven Against Hell", and "Death to the Un-Wicked." I found Greg Andrada by flagging him down when he was with Bucky, a friend of ours. He then became the other half of the guitars, and we began working on shit like "D'yers Fate", and some other shit. We then got Nick, and shit started coming together. Now, looking for a bass guitarist, we have gotten two demos done, and we are working on our third and most fuckin' brutal."
